Jonathan Frid gets into character as Barnabas in the Dark Shadows make-up room in 1968. "At first, we were pretty tentative about letting him bite anybody," producer Robert Costello told the Rochester Sentinel in 1969. "We brought him on with big hoopla... but we would only let him nibble at a victim's wrist."
